 | Laura McIver says: My work is inspired by natural forms, and by the shapes and compositions found in nature. I draw on the concept of simplifying and stylising organic shapes into patterns and silhouettes, taking influence from the visuals in Japanese textiles. In my jewellery I explore the connection between the floral and plant structures that are my inspiration and the development of patterns from these forms, which is expressed through the technique of piercing. I work mainly in silver with details in 18ct gold, freshwater pearls and semi- precious beads. |
